After his return from India, Mohammad Ghori ruled as the supreme ruler of the Ghurid empire till his death in 1206. In 1206, he was assassinated. After his death, his empire was conquered by the Khwarizmi empire based in Iran.
Qutb-ud-din Aibak was a former slave of Mohammad Ghori who was installed as the governor of the Indian territories by Ghori. After Ghori's death, Aibak became the independent Sultan of Delhi. He ruled from 1206 till his death in 1210. He built the famous Qutb Minar in Delhi.
