Quantity of milk Uma has $=4\frac{2}{5}=\frac{22}{5}$ L
Quantity of milk Shama has $=3\frac{1}{10}=\frac{31}{10}$ L
Together they have $=\frac{22}{5}+\frac{31}{10}=\frac{44+31}{10}=\frac{75}{10}=\frac{15}{2}=7\frac{1}{2}$ L

Therefore they have $7\frac{1}{2}$L of milk in all.
