Rate of diffusion is directly proportional to 1(MOLECULAR WEIGHT)

TIME MOLECULAR WEIGHT

Now time is taken for mixture=5 min

time is taken for unknown gas =10 min

therefore

m1/5=3610

m1=3

m1=9

MOLECULAR WEIGHT m1=n1M1+n2M2n1+n2

where n1 and n2 are number of moles of H2 and CH4 respectively

9=n1×2+n2×16(n1+n2)

9n1+9n2=2n1+16n2

7n1=7n2

n1=n2

Therefore moles ratio is 1:1
