A motion in which all the particles of a body move uniformly in the same direction is called Translation or Translatory motion.

Conditions:

Following are the conditions of translation:

  1. The motion of the rigid body should be in a straight line.
  2. The motion of the rigid body should be along the direction of applied force.

Example:

A car moving with uniform acceleration.
