According to Graham' s Law, the rate of diffusion is inversely proportional to the square root of its molecular weight.

Let m1 be the mass of the unknown gas

m2 is the mass of CO2

r1= rate of diffusion of the unknown gas

r2= rate of diffusion of CO2

r1r2=m2m1

Given that r1r2=2

thus, 2=44m1

Squaring both sides:
4=44m1

m1=11g
