upper and lower surface of some leaves in a potted plant are covered with vaseline .it is observed that these leaves becomes yellow after some days. why does this happen?

Dear student,
When leaf surface is covered with vaseline then stomatal opening of the epidermal surface will be closed therefore exchange of gases will be affected which can stop respiration and photosynthesis. It will also affect transpiration as the water will not be lost through the surface of leaves.
