Option (b) is correct.
Newland arranged the elements in increasing order of their atomic mass and proposed that every eighth element beginning from any element resembles the first element in its physical and chemical properties. This was called as the law of octaves. But was discarded soon since it was not applicable for heavier elements, only followed till calcium.
