Urea, Uric Acid and Ammonia is obtained by breaking up of which of the following animal nutrients?
Proteins
Proteins are broken into urea, uric acid and ammonia by mammals, birds and fish respectively. This is similar to the breaking up of carbohydrates and fats into carbon dioxide and water to obtain energy. Carbon dioxide is expelled through lungs whereas urea, uric acid and ammonia are filtered by the kidneys from blood. These are removed as droppings or as urine.
