Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is a regional intergovernmental political and economic alliance of six Middle East countries viz., Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and UAE i.e. all Arab states of the Persian Gulf, except for Iraq. The headquarters is in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Iraq is the only Arab country bordering the Persian Gulf that is not a member of the council.It’s associate membership was discontinued in 1990 after its invasion of Kuwait in the Gulf War.
