  1. DVD – was invented and developed in 1995 and released in late 1996. Digital Video Disc or Digital Versatile Disc is the full form of DVD. In 2006, two new formats called HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc were released as the successor to DVD.
  2. Compact Discs (CDs) – it was released in 1982. It is a digital optical disc data storage format that was co-developed by Philips and Sony.
  3. Hard Drive Disks – It is an electro-mechanical data storage device that stores and retrieves digital data using magnetic storage and one or more rigid rapidly rotating platters coated with magnetic material.
  4. Secure Digital Cards (SD Card) – It was introduced in August 1999 by joint efforts between SanDisk, Panasonic (Matsushita) and Toshiba. It is a proprietary non-volatile memory card format developed by the SD Association (SDA) for use in portable devices.
  5. Solid-State Drives (SSDs) – A solid-state drive (SSD) is a solid-state storage device that uses integrated circuit assemblies to store data persistently, typically using flash memory.
  6. Floppy Disks – Floppy disks were an almost universal data format from the 1970s into the 1990s. Floppy disks use was declining by the mid- to late 1990s. Floppy disks remained very popular for 40 years.
