Solution

The correct option is C a=1 and b=5
The numbers in the first three stars follows the relation:
For the fourth star, W = 4 and E = Unknown
As per the relation,
  • The number in the top = W×E=4
(4)×E=4 E =1
a=1
  • The number in the bottom = W+E=(4)+(1)=5
b=5

For the fifth star, W = Unknown and E=Unknown

As per the relation, the number in the top = W×E = 16
There are many possible solutions for W and E that satisfy the above relation. But, as per the given options when W = 4 and E = 4, both the relations
  • W+E = (4)+4=0, and
  • W×E = 16
are satisfied simultaneously.
c=4,d=4 and e=0
