Food Preservation:

Preservation of food is the process of preventing the spoilage of different food items that need to be stored for long periods. Salting and sugaring are some of the methods for food preservation, discussed below-

(1) Salting: Fish is the main food that is stored using salt because moisture is absorbed by the salt, keeping the fish dry.

(2) Sugaring: Jams, jellies and fruit squashes are stored using sugar content because sugar inhibits the growth of microorganisms by drawing out water from their cells. Jamoon is preserved for long periods using sugar syrup.
