Resonance energy = Theoretical heat of hydrogenation – Experimental heat of hydrogenation.
So theoretical heat of hydrogenation (H.O.H.) for anthracene is
Theoretical ΔH=7×(28.6)=200.2 kcal/mol
Experimental ΔH=116.2 kcal/mol
Resonance energy = 84 kcal/mol
