Question

Use the formula to expand:

(4) (6 + 2q)3

Open in App
Solution

We know that (x + y)3 = x3 + 3x2y + 3xy2 + y3.
Comparing (6 + 2q)3 with (x + y)3 , we get:
x = 6 and y = 2q
Substituting these in the above formula:
(6 + 2q)3 = (6)3 + 3 × (6)2 × 2q + 3 × 6 × (2q)2 + (2q)3
= 216 + 216q + 72q2 + 8q2
