Use the formula to multiply:

(4) (x – 1) (x – 9)

Open in App
Solution

As (x + a) (x + b) = x2 + (a + b)x + ab
So, (x – 1) (x – 9) = x2 +[(–9) + (–1)]x + 9
= x2 – 10x + 9

∴ (x – 1) (x – 9) = x2 – 10x + 9
