Using identity $(a + b) (a - b) =$ $a^{2} - b^{2}$
$(2 a + 4 b) (2 a - 4 b)$ $= (2 a)^{2} - (4 b)^{2}$
$= 4 a^{2} - 16 b^{2}$
The answer is $4 a^{2} - 16 b^{2}$
