Steps of construction:

1. Draw a line segment $AB$ if length 12 cm. Draw a ray from $A$ in any direction.

2. On that ray, mark 7 (4+3) arcs of same length. $A_1$ to $A_7$ such that $A{A}_1$ = $A_1{A}_2$ = $A_2{A}_3$ = $A_3{A}_4$ = $A_4{A}_5$.= $A_5{A}_6$ = $A_6{A}_7$.

3. Join $A_7$ and $B$.

4. Draw a line parallel to $A_{7}B$ passing through $A_4$ such that it cuts line segment at C.

5. Now, the line segment $AB$ is divided by $C$ in the ratio $4:3$.
