Question

Using the formula, find the maximum number of electrons in the following shells: M shell.

Open in App
Solution

According to Bohr's atomic model, the maximum number of electrons a shell can occupy is given by the formula 2n2 where n is the shell number.

For M shell, n = 3, using formula 2n2, the maximum number of electrons that can be filled in M shell = 2 x (3)2 = 2 x 9 = 18.
