Question

Using water from borewells for irrigation is not a permanent solution to solve the issue of water scarcity. Why?

Solution

Increased dependence on borewells has led to the depletion of ground water levels. Over a period of time, borewells either dry up or the level of water decreases. This results in there being insufficient water to irrigate the crops.
