Usually, atoms combine with one another to form another minute particle called a molecule. A molecule is the smallest unit of matter which exhibits all the properties of that kind of matter and also has an independent existence.

Note: Atoms don't always form molecules. Ionic compounds like NaCl don't form molecules. Molecules are formed by covalent bonds like we find in $H{2}_O$.
