  1. Liquids are generally bad conductors of heat i.e. they don't allow heat to pass through them easily.
  2. There are some liquids, such as mercury, which are good conductors of heat.
  3. Mercury has a high coefficient of expansion i.e it expands even with the slightest change in temperature.
  4. Due to its high coefficient of expansion mercury is used in thermometers to measure the temperature of the body.
