Step 1: Insulated wires of Different Colors:

• Most electrical appliances are connected to the source of electricity by a three-core flexible cable containing live, neutral, and earth wire.
• To distinguish these wires, the insulation covering on each wire is colored differently. These colors have been accepted universally and this is called color code.
• In India wires are RGB mode i.e. Red- Green- Black.

Step 2: Functions of three wires (three colors) :

Each of these RGB wires has different functions,

• .RED wire: It signifies the phase in an electric circuit. It is a live wire, which cannot be connected to another red wire or black wire.
• BLACK wire: It signifies neutral wire in an electric circuit. The neutral wire is connected to a neutral bus bar inside an electric panel.
• GREEN wire: It stands for grounding/ Earthing in an electric circuit. A green wire should be connected to green wire only (no other wire)
