Active immunity:

  1. This immunity is developed in response to the entry of an antigen into our body.
  2. It has long-lasting protection against the disease.
  3. Active immunity can be of two types depending on the way, the antigen enters our body.
    i) Natural ii) Artificial

Vaccination:

  1. The process of administration of a vaccine is called 'vaccination'.
  2. The vaccine is a liquid substance that is used to trigger immune responses by producing antibodies in the body to prevent various diseases caused by microorganisms.
  3. It is made up of dead or weakened antigens.
  4. So, vaccination can be considered artificial active immunity.
  5. Similarly, the polio vaccine is used against poliovirus which also induces active immunity.
