Question

value based question":
roja and ramya were studying about properties of solids.the solid which was under investigation showing properties like insulator in solid as well as in molten state, very hard, very high melting point. roja thought it was crytalline solid but ramya said it would be covalent solid . whom do you favour and why? what value is indicated by this?

Solution

The given solid is covalent solid. The reason is covalent solids are all high melting, very hard and poor conductor of electricity. Whereas crystalline solids are ionic solids and conduct current. So I favour with ramya. This indicates the value of classification and properties of crystals.
