What would be expected to happen if:
Would a defoliated plant respond to photoperiodic cycle? Why?

Solution

The perception of photoperiodic stimulus (i.e., the perception of day or night length) is confined to young expanded leaves-Hence, if the plant is completely defoliated (i.e., all the leaves are removed from the plant), it becomes insensitive to photoperiodism. But if even one leaf is left on the plant and it is given appropriate photoperiodic treatment, the plant flowers.
