Solution

The correct option is D 23.4 mm Hg and 0.017
Given, Pi=23.8mmHg
W1 (weight of water) = 850 g
W2 (weight of area) = 50 g
Molecular weight of water M1=18g/mol
Molecular weight of area M2=60g/mol

From Raoult's law,
P01P1P01=n2n1+n2

Let 'P' is vapour pressure to be calculated:
P01P1P01=W2M2W1M1+W2M223.8P123.8=506085018+5060

23.8P23.8=0.8347.22+0.83=0.0173

P1=23.4mm of Hg

Relative lowering is 0.0173 & vapour pressure of solution is 23.4
Option (D) is correct.
