Solution

Variations are the observable differences in an organism. The variations may be in genotype or the phenotype of the organism and can occur due to various factors such as climate, temperature or in response to a chemical mutagen. Such changes help the organism to adapt to the changes in its surroundings. Also, variations in organisms form a diversified group. For example, a genus includes various species and all of them differ from each other by some characteristics. Thus, as the hierarchy is increased from species to kingdom, more variations are seen. This forms a diversified living world.
