Varun is planning a rectangular flowerbed of size $30m\times 20m$ in such a way that it has a rectangular pond of size $3m\times 2m$ in the middle. He wishes to plant Rose, Jasmine, Lily and Sunflower as shown in the figure. Find the area of the portion in which he wishes to plant Sunflower.

Area in which flowers can be planted=area(rect $ABCD$) - area(rect $EFGH$)

$=(30\times 20)m^2-(3\times 2)m^2=(600-6)m^2=594m^2$
