Question

Vasa recta is associated with which organ of the human body?

Open in App
Solution

Vasa recta is associated with kidneys. These are the straight arterioles or capillaries of the kidneys present in the medulla region. They are parallel to the loop of Henle. They act as a countercurrent exchanger. It also maintains the osmotic gradient. The osmotic pressure inside the vasa recta increases as it descends into the medulla and decreases again as it ascends.
