Veins have valves which allow blood to flow only in one direction. Arteries do not have valves. Yet the blood flows in one direction only. Can you explain why?

Arteries carry blood away from the heart whereas veins carry blood towards the heart.
Blood in the arteries is under much higher pressure than the blood in the veins.
The high pressure of the blood in the arteries prevents the backflow of blood and makes the blood flow unidirectional.
