Question

Verify whether the following are zeroes of the polynomial, indicated against them.
p(x)=lx+m,x=ml

Open in App
Solution

Given, p(x)=lx+m.
We know, a is a root of f(x), only if f(a)=0.
Here,
p(x)=0
lx+m=0
lx=m
x=ml, that is,x=ml is the zero of the given polynomial.

To verify this, we find p(ml).
If p(ml)=0, thenx=ml is a zero of the given polynomial.
That is, p(ml)=l(ml)+m=m+m=0.

Hence, proved that the given x is a zero of the given polynomial.
