Verify whether the following measures represent the sides of a right angled triangle.

Let ABC be a triangle where AB=2, BC=3 and AC=5 as shown in the above figure:

Now consider AB2+BC2

AB2+BC2=(2)2+(3)2=2+3=5=(5)2=AC2

Since AB2+BC2=AC2, therefore we have verified Pythagoras theorem , ABC is a right angled triangle.

Hence, 2, 3 and 5 represent the sides of a right angled triangle.
