Given polynomial $p (x) = (x - 1) (x + 2)$
Replace x by -1 we get
$p (- 1) = (- 1 - 1) (- 1 + 2)$
$\Rightarrow p (- 1) = - 2 \times 1$
$\Rightarrow p (1) = - 2$
Replace x by -2 we get
$p (- 2) = (- 2 - 1) (- 2 + 2)$
$\Rightarrow p (- 2) = - 3 \times 0$
$\Rightarrow p (- 2) = 0$
Then polynomial $p (x) = (x - 1) (x + 2)$ is zero polynomial for value for x=-2 and not zero polynomial for value x=-1
