Question

Very short answer type.
Suppose a calculus (stone) is blocking a major calyx, what effect might this have on capsular hydrostatic pressure (ClIP) and thus on net filtration pressure (NFP)?

Solution

If a stone or calculus is blocking a major calyx, it will increase the capsular hydrostatic pressure and thus, there will be a decrease in net filtration pressure. The resistance caused by the stone increases C1IP. Net filtration pressure decreases across glomerulus because the net passage of filtrate will be lesser due to the blockage.
