Very short answer type.
What happens if the long dark period of a short day plant is interrupted by a flash of red light?

Solution

A short day plant requires a continuous period of darkness to be able to flower. If it is interrupted by a flash of light during darkness, it will not exceed the flowering threshold of darkness and hence it will not flower. This is by virtue of phototropins, the proteins that are responsible for the detection of light in plants.
