(vi) x − 2y = −10; 3x − 5y = − 12

Open in App
Solution

x-2y=-10 ...(i) 3x-5y =-12 ...(ii) Multiplying eq (i) by 3, we get :3x-6y=-30 ...(iii)Subtracting eq (ii) from (iii), we get: 3x-6y=-30 3x-5y =-12 - + + -y = -18y=18Substituting y=18 in (i), we get: x-2×18=-10 x-36=-10x=26Hence, x=26, y=18 is the solution of the given equations.
