The correct option is A 1km/hr.
Vihang rowed upstream 48 kms. and back in 14 hours. He can row downstream 4 kms in the same time as 3 kms. upstream.
We know, speed=distancetime
Speed downstream =(4x)km/hr.
[ where we let, het move 4 km downstream x hours]
Speed upstream =(3x)km/hr.
According to the question,
484/x+483/x=14
So, 48x4+48x3=14
or, 12x+16x=14
or, x=1428
or, x=12
Hence , speed of downstream =41/2=8km/hr.
and speed of upstream =31/2=6km/hr.
We know, speed of the stream is given by
12 (downstream speed - upstream speed)
Hence, speed of the stream =12(86)km/hr.=1km/hr.
option A is correct.
