Question

(vii) 4x + y = 34, x + 4y = 16

Open in App
Solution

4x+y=34 ...(i) x+4y =16 ...(ii) Multiplying eq (ii) by 4, we get :4x+16y=64 ...(iii) Subtracting eq (i) from (iii), we get: 4x+16y=64 4x+ y =34 - - - 15y =30y=2Substituting y=2 in (i), we get: 4x+2=34 4x=32x=8Hence, x=8, y=2 is the solution of the given equations.
