Solution

The correct option is C

more stiff

Natural Rubber and Its properties-

  • Natural rubber is soluble in non-polar solvents and can be easily attached by oxidizing agent
  • To improve upon these properties, a process of vulcanization is carried out where it is mixed with Sulphur and heated at a high temperature.

Vulcanization of Rubber-

  • On Vulcanization, Sulphur forms cross-links at the reactive site of double bonds, making it resistant to any oxidizing agent and the rubber gets more stiffened.
  • Vulcanized rubber is capable of getting stretched to twice its length and returns to its original shape and size as soon as the external stretching force i.e., elastic property is also enhanced
  • Vulcanized rubber is insoluble in any non-polar and inorganic solvent.
