Question

Washing clothes with water does not remove grease stains. Give reason

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Because oil and grease are hydrophobic in nature which means their molecules don’t mix with water if we wash our clothing in water then oil and grease will not be soluble in water and can not be removed by using water.

As most dish detergents are able to absorb grease directly .So ,oil and grease stains can be removed by using soap or detergent.
