Question

Water drops are falling from ceiling at regular interval of time in such a way that sixth drop is going to be detached when 1 st drop is just hitting the ground. If time interval between two consecutive drops is 0.5 second. Then the height of ceiling is

Solution

From the diagram

Number of interval during drop movement is 5

Time interval in two consecutive drop is 0.5sec

Total time, 5×t=5×0.5=2.5sec

Apply kinematic equation of motion

s=ut+12at2

s=0+129.8×2.52=30.62m

Hence, height of celling is 30.62m
