We know that AAvA=ABvB

Using equation of continuity

Rate of flow of water =AAvA=ABvB

(40)vA=(20)vB

vB=2vA

Now, Using Bernoulli's theorem
PA+12ρv2A=PB+12ρv2B

PAPB=12ρ(v2Bv2A)

700=12×1000(4v2Av2A)

vA=0.68m/s=68 cm/s
And rate of flow=AAvA

=(40)(68)

2720 cm3/s
