The correct option is C Value of x is 7.97 m.
Let the height of the pipe opening from the surface of water in the tank be h.
From the figure, we can deduce that the value of h=102=8 m.
Then, speed of efflux from the pipe
vx=2gh=2×10×8=410 ms1

Using kinematic equation in the vertical direction for water coming out of the pipe,
y=ut+12gt2
Since u=0, we get y=12gt2
Given, y=2 m
2=12gt2
or t=0.4=0.63 s
Horizontal range of water
x=vxt=410×(0.63)
=7.97 m
Thus, options (a) and (c) are correct answers.
