Water hyacinth float on water surface. Why?

Water Hyacinth:

  1. A special type of parenchyma; called aerenchyma is present in water hyacinth.
  2. This tissue has air-filled spaces inside and because the air gets trapped in the stem part it becomes buoyant.
  3. Due to this, water hyacinth floats on the water surface.
