Water in a canal, 6 m wide and 3 m deep, is flowing with a sped of 10 km/h. How much area will it irrigate in 30 minutes, if 8 cm of standing water is needed?

Given;-
width=6m
deep=3m
speed=10km/hr=10000m/hr
speed of water flow in 1 hour = speed×width×depth
=10000×6×3
=180000m3
volume of water flow in 30min =12×volume of water flow in hour
=12×180000
90000m3
volume of water irrigated =volume of water flow in 30min
volume of water irrigated =base area×height
base area ×8cm= base area ×0.08
90000= base area ×0.08
base area =900000.08=1125000m2
hence,
1125000m2 area will it irrigate in 30min.
