    1. In cold countries, water does not freeze all at once in ponds and lakes. This is due to the fact that the specific latent heat of fusion of ice is 336 J/g, so as to freeze water, a large quantity of heat has to be withdrawn, hence it freezes slowly.
    2. Specific latent heat of fusion of ice is very high it means that water requires high latent heat to convert into ice.
    3. This property is very important for aquatic life because due to this property life remains safe into the water.
