Solution

The correct option is B Symplast
Water is transported through the root in two different ways-apoplast and symplast pathways. When the transport of water and ions occurs through the free spaces of the cell wall it is called apoplast. The transport of water and ions through cells which are interconnected through plasmodesmata is termed as symplast. Here, the cell to cell water movement takes place.

In passive absorption, diffusion through carrier proteins takes place only if two molecules move together. Symport is when two molecules cross the membrane in the same direction. When both the molecules travel in opposite directions, it is called antiport. When these molecules move across a membrane independent of other molecules, the movement is termed as uniport.
