Conduction is a process of transfer of heat in which the thermal vibrations of the particles of a medium is constantly transferred to the successive particle and thus the thermal energy is transferred from one side to Other Side. In conduction, electrons play a very important role. For good conduction, electrons must be free. In water, the electrons are engaged in chemical bond and hence are not free to participate in conduction. Materials which conduct heat very well are known as good conductors and materials which do not conduct heat well are known as bad conductors. Water thus is a bad conductor.
