Sound cannot travel in a vacuum as it is a mechanical wave.
The propagation of sound depends on successive compression and rarefaction of a medium layers.
So, sound needs a material medium to travel.
There is no atmosphere on the Moon.
We cannot hear each other on the moon because there is no air on the moon and therefore sound could not travel.
