Calculate the value of $1000 p$ for ${N O_{3}}^{-}$ in a solution that is $4.78 \times 10^{- 2}$ M in $C u (N O_{3})_{2}$ and $0.104 M$ in $Z n (N O_{3})_{2}$ .

The molar concentration of nitrate ions is:

$[{N O_{3}}^{-}] = 2 \times 4.78 \times 10^{- 2} [f r o m C u (N O_{3})_{2}] + 2 \times 0.104 [f r o m Z n (N O_{3})_{2}] = 3.036 \times 10^{- 1} M$

$∴ p_{{N O_{3}}^{-}} = - l o g [{N O_{3}}^{-}] = - l o g (3.036 \times 10^{- 1}) = 1 - l o g 3.036 \approx 0.518$

$∴ 1000 p = 518$
